Recently we were approached by Ben Perrault, an applicant for the rank of Eagle Scout about suggestions for capital improvements at Joe station which he might do as a leadership project. With our irrigation system nearly complete, our highest priority needs are permanent shade structures to be located in the outfield. We suggested this to him and quickly responded and began research.
Ben has designed two such structures which have been enthusiastically approved by park volunteers, Park and Recreation staff, and other city departments. Now we need to raise $2400 to purchase the materials so Ben and his fellow scouts can get them constructed for the benefit of the people and dogs who enjoy our park.
As an incentive to potential donors, QuikTrip Corporation has donated bottled water, soft drinks and ice which have been placed near the donation boxes in the park. Visitors are encouraged to make donations there and receive a cold drink, courtesy of QuikTrip.
