Story by Patty Mandrel
Cody Hahn is the man accused of dragging a dog behind his SUV in Sapulpa in 2008.
The August 26 hearing for Cody Hahn was very brief. After court was called to session
Judge White addressed those of us in the gallery there for Cody’s case. She apologized
for any inconvenience but said through pre-arrangements Cody and his attorney
would not be present in court. She noted the case is on hold pending receipt of the Appeals Court decision and scheduled the next hearing for October 7. She said she doubted that we would be doing anything then other than scheduling another hearing date. (The DA is appealing Judge White’s decision to disallow the photo ID of Cody
by witness R Baggs, saying the photos are “too dissimilar.” An ADA tells me the photo lineup is not public information unless it is entered into evidence for trial.)
Rikki Seritt (bd 7-9-90), Cody’s alleged accomplice, also appeared August 26 and is next scheduled for November 8 hearing. She is charged with felony animal cruelty: it is alleged the rope/leash came loose a first time and she called the dog back to the car and retied him. She’s also charged with two counts of misdemeanor obstructing an officer for giving “false information” to two different deputies on two separate occasions. The Affidavit of Probable Cause also states that Rikki asked others to lie for her about her whereabouts the day of the crime and that others overheard her talking about “a friend dragging a dog behind his truck.”

He supposedly had another court appearance today 12-14-10, I’m waiting for the update on the Creek County website to check the outcome.
DISPOSITION PASSED TO 2-1-2011 AT 10:01 A.M. AT DEFENSE
COUNSEL’S REQUEST. THE STATE HAS NO OBJECTION TO THE
CONTINUANCE. DEFENDANT RECOGNIZED BACK.
He was found guilty on a seperate eluding case and ordered to 1 month in the creek county jail. Hopefully he gets a lot more for what he did to the poor dog.
Only in Oklahoma… I think almost anywhere else he would have been doing hard time for what he did to Sammy. He would not have had time to drink & drive or mess around with ANOTHER under age girl or threaten his friend who was gonna have to testify. Seems to me our court system is WAY to slow. Diane Wise
