Story by Ruth Steinberger
I had a tragic incident this weekend (Sunday evening). On the way back from Oklahoma City I saw a starving dog on 44, when i was coming back to Tulsa, I managed to pull over and started walking back toward the dog and about 100 feet back from the van I heard something say “meow” So I said “meow??”
Apparently someone had dumped a cat and a dog. The cat was crying for help and followed me back to the van and let me put him into a cage that is always in the back of the van. I had a camera with me but forgot to even get it out.
When I went back to get the dog it was gone. I called and called but could not hear over the tractor trailers. I got off at Wellston and went back around and the dog was right in the same spot where i saw him the first time–only dead. He was an approximately 16-week old blue pit bull puppy with a lot of bite marks

That breaks my heart, Ruth. At least you tried your best. With all the bite marks, I wonder if the poor puppy was used for dogfighting bait. That story just kills me.
That makes me sick, very sad and disappointed in people. I don’t think it will ever end when a lot of people have so little value for another living being. WE are rsponsible for the fate of our animals on earth. I guess we need to count our blessings for people like you and just love and help the helpless ones we see.
