It’s not too late to get your pet’s portrait with Santa

Has anyone else fallen behind on your seasonal to-do list like I have?  If so, don’t worry, you will still have an opportunity to get your pet’s portrait with Santa this weekend. Because that is on everyone’s to-do list, right? If not, it should be.

If you have never taken your dog or cat to visit the big guy himself, here are some tips from the year I volunteered taking Santa portraits at PetSmart. Then check the list below for times and locations.

Bring along your pet’s favorite toys or treats or both. Not only will it help while you stand in line along with everyone else who waited until the last minute, it might also help you get your pet to look at the camera.

Be willing to be in the picture. Some dogs and (especially) cats just don’t want to sit on Santa’s lap. If so, don’t force it. You will probably get a better picture if you can stay close to your pet.

Know your dog or cat. If he or she is a biter or a scratcher, that probably isn’t fair to Santa. Consider setting up your own holiday setting and snapping pics at home.

Don’t forget to tell Santa what your pet wants! That’s the whole point of the visit, right?
