Tulsa Animal Welfare and other rescues around the country are joining Best Friends Animal Society for its third annual Back in Black adoption event.

The group hopes to increase adoption and awareness of black cats and dogs during the month of November. Traditionally, black animals wait longer for forever homes than other animals.

For the month of November, Tulsa Animal Welfare will reduce adoption rates for black cats to $20 and $55 for black dogs.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, Oklahoma Alliance for Animals will be at Tulsa Animal Welfare from noon to 4pm. Black animals adopted that day will go home with a new microchip and tags and there will be opportunities to win other prizes.

The Tulsa SPCA is offering adoption specials during the month of October, dubbing it “Petober Time.”

A post on the Tulsa SPCA’s Facebook page says:

“If you or a friend are looking for some great winter weather cuddling companions, look no further – we have what you want!! More than any thing we would love to see our wonderful pets go into homes before the holidays.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. My feet would get very cold at night if it weren’t for my snuggly kitties.

Specials include reduced rates for black dogs, dogs with wisdom and half off regular adoption fees for cats and kittens.

Get more information and view available pets at tulsaspca.org.
