TULSA, OK, March 22, 2012 — The Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is proud to announce the 3rd Annual For Paws Sake Golf Tournament which will be held at the Oaks Country Club on Monday, June 18, 2012.

The 2012 For Paws Sake Golf Tournament goal is to raise $15,000 for the general operating fund of the Tulsa SPCA and to host over 18 teams of four at the Oaks Country Club. Various levels of sponsorships are available and can be found by visiting the Tulsa SPCA website at

The Oaks Country Club is a prestigious 85-year-old course designed by Tillinghast and is one of Tulsa’s best-kept secrets. A team of four can enter the tournament for $600, which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, range balls, a boxed lunch and hors d’oeuvres following golf. Also included are complimentary beverages and snacks throughout the day, as well as the opportunity to win prizes donated by businesses within the Tulsa community. Awards will be given to the Top 3 teams. Cash bar will be open at the awards ceremony following golf.

Established in 1913, the Tulsa SPCA is preparing to celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2013. The organization serves many purposes in the Tulsa community including the following:

  • Offering safe haven for lost, abandoned, neglected and abused animals
  • Matching pets for adoption with people with loving homes
  • Promoting spay and neuter of all dogs and cats
  • Working toward reduction of numbers of animals euthanized at the city’s municipal animal shelter
  • Educating children and adults about the care pets require for their well-being and their humane treatment
  • Working to build a positive bond between people and pets
  • Investigating reports of animal cruelty and abuse and assisting in recovery of the animals and prosecution of individuals in violation of state animal cruelty laws

Since its founding, the Tulsa SPCA has been an independent organization supported exclusively by private donations. It is not affiliated with any national group and does not receive any government or United Way funding.
